Steward Manufacturing Company ORDINANCE NO. 9666 AN ORDINANCE CLOSING AND ABANDONING A PORTION OF BARKSDALE AVENUE AND ALLEYS LOCATED NORTHWEST FROM EAST 37TH STREET, NORTHEAST OF JEROME AVENUE MORE PARTICULARLY DESCRIBED HEREIN. _______________________ SECTION 1. BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CHATTANOOGA, TENNESSEE, That there be and is hereby closed and abandoned a portion of Barksdale Avenue and alleys located northwest from East 37th Street, northeast of Jerome Avenue, more particularly described herein, and as shown on plat attached hereto and made a part hereof by reference: Part of Barksdale Avenue, a 66 foot wide unopened right-of-way. Said part of street begins on the northwest line of East 37th Street 295 feet southeast, then northeast, of the intersection of the northeast line of East 37th Street with the southeast line of Jerome Avenue, and extends northwest 260 feet between parallel lines to the northwest line of a 10 foot wide unopened alleyway. Said street separates lots 4-8, block 111, from lots 4-8, block 112, East End Land Company's Addition No. 1, as shown by plat of record in plat book 2, page 22, R.O.H.C. A 15 foot wide unopened alleyway, and a part of a 10 foot wide unopened alleyway. Said alleyway and part of alleyway begin on the southeast line of Jerome Avenue some 197 feet northeast of the intersection of the southeast line of Jerome Avenue with the northeast line of East 37th Street, thence northeast 13 feet, thence southeast some 220 feet to the northeast line of East 37th Street, thence southeast some 15 feet with East 37th Street, thence northwest some 230 feet to the northwest corner of lot 4, block 112, said East End Addition, thence northeast 206 feet with the northwest line of said lot 4, and said line extended, to the northeast line of Barksdale Avenue, also being the northwest corner of lot 4, block 111, said East End Addition, thence northwest 10 feet to the southwest corner of lot 1, block 111, said subdivision, thence southwest 66 feet to the southeast corner of lot 3, block 112, thence continuing southwest 140 feet with the southeast line of lots 3, 2, and 1, block 112, thence northwest some 30 feet to the southeast line of Jerome Avenue, thence southwest some 50 feet with Jerome Avenue to the point of beginning. Said 15 foot alleyway separates lots 4-8, block 112, from lots 9 and 10, block 112, said East End Addition, and said part of a 10 foot alleyway separates lots 1-3, block 112, from lots 4 and 10, block 112, said East End Addition. Tax Map No. 168A-N-18, 28, 29, and 30. SECTION 2. BE IT FURTHER ORDAINED, That this Ordinance shall take effect two weeks from and after its passage as provided by law.
